Mages on Gothic 3 are by FAR the easiest game to be a magician. Even without mana regen, took me 8 hours to get magic on Gothic 1 (swamp camp, the easiest one), on Gothic 2, took 15 hours and on G3, took less than a half of a hour. I just picked some herbs, delivered on reddrock, payed a fire magician to teach me AK and prayed for the lightning.
